Sentinels to those Forgotten

When we finally reached the house (which I have no pictures of because I was crying by this point) there was a stand of birch trees off on the far side of the lawn. My Grandma explained that those trees were the ones my Grandpa and Great Grandma planted after my grandma and grandpa got married. They were supposed to be transplanted to my grandpa's lawn after they settled. Grandma said he didn't have time because she became pregnant but then he didn't have the heart after Great Grandma died.
